Cleaning Matters magazine invited COBA to contribute a feature on entrance matting which appears in the most recent (April/May 2014) edition. The article written by our Sales Director, Chris Stanley, discusses the characteristics and merits of different types of materials commonly used in the manufacture of entrance mats.

Premier Track
Chris explains why some materials perform better in specific situations. Nylon for example is crush-resistant and quick drying, while Polypropylene is more abrasive to the touch, giving it its scraping qualities. He also discusses the merits of microfibre for absorbency, cotton (a popular material especially for domestic doormats) for its quick-drying properties. And of course, coir – the classic doormat material – gets a mention too!
