The products keep moving. The people beside them don’t always have that luxury.
At a busy UK fulfilment centre, packing lines keep products moving through the operation. Alongside them, employees work at defined stations where they can spend prolonged periods standing on hard warehouse flooring.
The requirement wasn’t simply to add matting to the warehouse.
It was to understand where people were standing, how they were working and what those specific areas needed.
It started on the warehouse floor
Before a product was specified, Manutan and COBA carried out a joint site visit to understand the application first-hand.
Together, the teams looked at the packing operation in action: where employees were positioned, how the workstations were used and what demands any matting installed there would need to withstand.
That distinction mattered.
A busy fulfilment centre contains pedestrian routes, moving equipment and fixed workstations, but the same flooring solution isn’t necessarily right for every part of it.
For employees remaining at the packing stations for extended periods, a dedicated anti-fatigue surface was identified as the appropriate solution.

Specifying the mat around the workstation
With the application understood, Deckplate Safety was selected for the identified packing lines and workstations.
Its dual-layer construction combines a cushioned foam backing with a hardwearing top surface, providing a more comfortable standing surface while being designed for demanding industrial environments.
High-visibility yellow borders were incorporated into the installation. Deckplate Safety also features a checker-plate-style surface and bevelled edges to help reduce the risk of trips around the mat.
Once the solution had been specified, the COBA installation team installed Deckplate Safety along the relevant packing lines and workstations.

A dedicated surface, exactly where it was needed
The completed installation gives employees at the identified stations a dedicated anti-fatigue standing surface, with the matting selected specifically around how those areas are used.
It’s a relatively simple change underfoot, but one based on an important principle:
The right mat depends on how the workplace is actually used.
From the joint site visit with Manutan and COBA through to specification and professional installation, each stage of the project was shaped around how people actually use the space.
Because choosing anti-fatigue matting shouldn’t simply be about asking:
“Which mat should we buy?”
A better question is:
“What does this workstation need?”
That’s where finding the Right Mat, First Time™ starts.
